Trick or Treat! Phantoms & Fantasies by Annie Rayburn - Review and Giveaways!

Available on Smashwords  And  on Amazon
Don't let the pink backdrop and the rose petals fool you -- Zeenie is a sharp heroine who can kick ass and  won't settle for anything less than ALL she wants and deserves.
And she gives her hero - and only her hero - the same:
"I didn't hold back on your fantasy, don't hold back on mine."

PHANTOMS & FANTASIES is the sizzling love story of Zeenie and Turk, two Crainesians
who have to navigate around emotional scars to overcome the barriers that have placed not only Zeenie, but her closest friends in a life holding pattern.

In their Crainesian culture, the woman takes the lead in courtship. Able to recognize their lifemates upon first sight - and the pheromone action kicking in - Craineys' courtship rituals are accelerated so they get started on their honeymoons as soon as possible.

But sometimes, there's a stubborn partner who just doesn't want to do the neutron dance....

When Zeenie's memories of her devastating trauma one Halloween lingers on - and on - and spills over into the life of her friend Di - her roommate and safety net - it takes a bit of Di's own Halloween trickery to push Zeenie back into the dating pool...

with Turk Fontaine, Rumored to be the Official Crainesian Stud of Dallas.

Turk has known from the first time he saw Zeenie at a party back in their college days that they were lifemates. But Zeenie refuses to acknowledge him--
or the fact that she knows it too.
In fact, she does such a good job of recovering from her traumatic event, that she manages to deny any and all feelings inherent to her Crainesian biology.

But,  Turk is a sensitive guy - actually, all Crainesians are extra sensitive. It's another attribute they share that differentiates them from your average humanoid from another planet.
Turk turns on the charm, turns on the mind sharing, turns on the dream sex... he turns on everything (and supposedly everyone in Dallas)
except Zeenie.

Well, for a while at least. Once she realizes where this is all going, she takes him on--

but she's not surrendering without a fight.

And that, dear reader, is the fun part of Ms. Rayburn's Crainesian series - aside from the hot sex of course.
Ms. Rayburn's heroines in all of her Crainesians' books are sharp tongued, independent, able to take care of themselves. They don't really NEED a man --
But they WANT one.
THE one meant for her, and her alone.

Turk  redeems himself in Zeenie's eyes when he's finally able to show her who he is - and who they are - when they are together.
Zeenie may think she's got it together, until she realizes she has to let down her defenses because taking care of herself won't make her fully whole and complete -
It's only through reaching out,  returning love, to those who love her that makes her whole again.

Be a Crainey for Halloween!

Annie Rayburn is no stranger to the oddities of the writing life. Perhaps it was the hot Texas sun, or the long, lazy days of summer that fueled her vivid imagination. Whatever the muse, she grew up with scenes playing in her head and imaginary playmates taking over the show while she patted out mud cookies dotted with Chinaberries.
The stories she crafts today are decidedly more adult than the ones that involved Ken and Barbie. The scenes still play in her head, the characters argue with her right to craft their very existence, but she's learned to harness their energies, showing them the way through the sensual haze to a love that will endure.

  5. I echo Tami's comment--I read this book a few months ago, and loved it as much as Annie's other books. But I just may have to give it another go after reading this review. I love the Craineys and I love the sizzle. For me, they are the perfect combination of nice characters and hot sex.

I hope y'all aren't having as much trouble commenting as I am. For some reason the screen on Blogger is jumping and moving oddly, so I put it in compatibility mode. Crossing fingers in hopes I won't get anymore error msgs.
